First tram to Marsden
The arrival of the first tram to Marsden was celebrated by crowds of locals . Although Huddersfield Corporation opened its first route, using steam trams, on 11th January 1883, it did not reach Slaithwaite until 1900. The service did not reach Marsden until October 1914, with the terminus outside Ingfield House (formerly The British Queen) on Manchester Road. October 3rd 1914.
